Petrochemical Industries Investment Company (PIIC) was established in 1992, with the aim of attracting public investment in petrochemical industry. The company joined Tehran Stock Exchange in 1994 and currently operates with almost 50,000 shareholders and nominal capital of 1820 billion IRR.
The company's two major shareholders are the Social Security Investment Company (also known as SHASTA) and Tamin Petroleum & Petrochemical Investment Company (TAPPICO). The companies’ aim is to use the potential of the private sector and technical knowledge to expand the quality and quantity of PIIC’s activities. In this regard, the company's long-term strategy is to focus on launching production projects, especially in the petrochemical sector.
PIIC currently possesses managing shares in three different types of companies: Production Companies; Technical and Engineering Services Companies; and Investment Companies. Major production companies are: Doodeh Sanati Pars, Doodeh Carbon Iran (Iran Carbon Black ), Shimibaft, Shimitex Aria, Gaz Louleh, Lolehaye Do Jedare Ghadr, Selseleh Ab Hayat Kerman, Shimiaee Faravard Qeshm, Sanaye Lastiki Sahand,Kimia Gharb Gostar. The Main Technical & Engineering Companies are: Ehdas Va Khodkafae Senaye (Shakhes), TECHINCO, FIRMCO, Negahdasht Karan. The three major investment companies are: Hamoon Kish, Gostaresh Tejarat Hamoon and Sanaye Lastiki Sahand.
